Federal University of Education, Zaria Commences Major Rehabilitation of Senate Building and Academic Structures

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Education, Zaria, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure, has commenced the general renovation and rehabilitation of the University Senate Building and two other structures in the University.

The contractors, Global Contractors Trade Limited, ABS Construction Ltd, and Shelter Luxury Farm Ltd, formally took over their respective project sites today, marking the official commencement of the rehabilitation work.

The projects, funded under the 2025 University Take-Off Grant, cover alongside the Senate Building, the University Library, and the Faculty of Nigerian and Foreign Languages building.

The University Take-Off Grant is a special funding support awarded to the University for its upgrade from Federal Colleges of Education to improve its infrastructures alongside teaching-learning and administrative facilities.

Speaking on behalf of the contractors, Alhaji Lawal Jibril assured the University Management of their readiness to commence work immediately, while requesting the support and cooperation of the University to ensure smooth execution of the projects.

The Acting Director of Works and Services, Engr. Aliyu Ango, who led the contractors to the various sites, reiterated the importance of professionalism, quality assurance, and timely delivery of all projects. 

He reiterated that all works must be executed strictly in line with approved specifications and completed within the stipulated timeframe.

Also present during the site takeover were the project consultants, engineers and technical officers, including Arc. Lukman Mu’azu Lukman of Trend Blazers Consults Limited and Arc. Anas Aliyu Sambo, Clerk of Works for Senate project.

Also on site included Engr. Peter Umar Umar, Clerk of Works forLibrary project; Arc. Shamsuddeen Muhammad and QS Bashir Abdullahi, Clerks of Works for Faculty of Nigerian and Foreign Languages; as well as Engr. Abubakar Hassan (Estate), Arc. Suleiman Aliyu (Procurement) and Bldr. Auwal Muhammad (Estate).

Earlier, Prof. Bunkure had conducted an inspection tour of the entire Senate Building to assess its current condition ahead of the commencement of the rehabilitation works.
