FG Set to Scrap NYSC, Says Scheme No Longer Necessary

The Federal Government is reportedly considering scrapping the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, citing concerns over security, funding, and relevance in today’s Nigeria.

A high-ranking government official, who spoke anonymously, revealed that discussions are already in progress.

According to the source, “The reality is that many graduates no longer see NYSC as beneficial. With rising insecurity and financial constraints, the government is re-evaluating its necessity.”

While no official statement has been released, insiders claim an official announcement may come soon. If approved, graduates will no longer be required to serve for one year after university.
