From 3.7 to First Class: The Inspiring Academic Turnaround of Bello Mutmainah

The academic community of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) is celebrating the remarkable achievement of Bello Mutmainah, who has graduated with First Class Honours in Nutrition and Dietetics.

She graduated with a cumulative grade point average of 4.59 over 5.00 during the 2025 academic session. 

While reflecting on her academic journey, she shared that she started on a 3.7 — shaky, uncertain, with words hanging over her about how her CGPA might never recover.

She had 3 second class upper grades in semesters that were genuinely hard and humbling in ways she still carries. 

But in between all of this, she volunteered, showed up in her community, attended conferences in school, sat in rooms that stretched her thinking capacity beyond lecture notes, and earned some certificates. 

She studied like her future depended on it — because it did. She didn't just study to pass, but to understand.

Semester by semester, quietly, consistently... until the day her lecturer handed her her result sheet, looked her in the eyes, and said, "Alaja, you can do better." She almost cried.

Then they laughed at her — because it was a 5.0, her first perfect GP, during her 300 level second semester. She went on to get five of them consecutively, until she graduated with a cumulative grade point average of 4.59.
