Amidst the historic celebrations of Nasarawa State University’s (NSUK) 25th Anniversary and 8th Combined Convocation, Dr. Sunday Isuwa has emerged as a beacon of academic perseverance, officially earning his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mass Communication.
Dr. Isuwa’s doctoral thesis, titled “Assessment of Availability and Usage of Digital Communication Technologies in Select Newspaper Publishing Houses in Nigeria,” addresses a critical gap in the evolution of the Nigerian media landscape. His research provides vital insights into how traditional print houses are navigating the transition to digital-first communication strategies.
Reflecting on his achievement, Dr. Isuwa described his academic path as a trajectory from a "low ebb" to the pinnacle of journalism scholarship. He acknowledged that the journey was marked by significant hardships, including financial strain and the delicate balance of professional and family obligations.
"What makes this achievement noteworthy is the trajectory of rising to this peak," he remarked, attributing his success to providence and the unwavering support system that sustained him through years of rigorous study.
In a heartfelt address, the new trailblazer expressed deep appreciation to those who stood by him. He specifically lauded his wife for her steadfastness, noting that she remained a pillar of strength when the pressures of work and finances threatened to overwhelm his academic pursuits.
As NSUK celebrates 25 years of institutional growth, Dr. Isuwa’s milestone serves as an inspiration to aspiring scholars, proving that dedication and resilience can turn institutional opportunities into personal triumphs.
