FUL Vice-Chancellor Applauds Faleke, BCDA for Digital Skills Training and Laptop Donation
The Vice Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja, Professor Gbenga Ibileye, has commended the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA) and the Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, for facilitating a high-impact employment readiness and entrepreneurial training programme for the university community.
The event which took place on Thursday March 12, 2026 at the University's Multipurpose Hall, Felele also saw the donation of 100 brand-new laptops to staff and students of the institution.
Professor Ibileye, represented at the event by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor S. D. Musa, described the collaboration as absolutely essential for bridging the widening gap between classroom theory and the practical demands of the modern global workforce.
He emphasized that the university remains committed to fostering an environment where students gain more than just academic knowledge.
Highlight of the event was the announcement by the facilitator of the programme, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, represented by Hon. Kolade Fagbemi, of the donation of one hundred brand-new laptops to the institution's staff and students.
The gesture, which drew an electric response from participants, is expected to strengthen digital learning at the university by equipping beneficiaries with the hardware needed to practise their newly acquired skills beyond the training session.
It is noteworthy that Faleke was not merely a donour but the key facilitator of the entire initiative, leveraging his constituency empowerment framework to extend the programme to the Federal University Lokoja community.
The intensive one-day session moved beyond traditional lectures, with experts leading hands-on sessions in advanced computer literacy, digital marketing, personal branding, and the use of social media for business growth.
Meanwhile, a significant portion of the training was also dedicated to Artificial Intelligence, with facilitators demonstrating how cutting-edge AI tools can boost personal productivity and spark entrepreneurial creativity.
