FULWiA Holds Maiden Convention on Women Academics' Empowerment

The Federal University of Lafia Women in Academics (FULWiA) recently held its maiden convention, themed "Women Academics in the Nigerian University System: Motherhood, Professionalism and Career Development."

The event featured guest speakers Prof. Bashirat Aderonke Mohammed and Prof. Fatima Badiru Ibrahim from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.

The convention aimed to promote collaboration, mentorship, and career development among women academics. Speakers charged participants to be intentional about career growth while balancing motherhood and family responsibilities.

The Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, encouraged women academics to leverage the event to network, build bridges for collaboration and research, and mentor younger women academics and female students. The convention provided a platform for women to share experiences, challenges, and opportunities in the academic profession.

The pioneer Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Prof. Ekanem Ikpi Braide, emphasized the need for continuous development and mentorship of women in academics. The convention was well-attended and featured inspiring presentations, motivating participants and fostering a sense of community among women academics.
