FUNAAB Equips RTEAN Members with Skills to Drive Peace in Transport Sector
At a time when peaceful dialogue and constructive conflict management remain vital to stability of Nigeria's transport sector, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has taken significant step towards building culture of peace by equipping members of Road Transport Employees Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Ogun State Chapter, with professional skills in Peace and Conflict Resolution.
Initiative, implemented through Institute of Communication and General Studies (ICGNS), culminated in certification of 20 participants who successfully completed specialised training programme, with five representatives receiving certificates at presentation ceremony held at FUNAAB on October 7, 2026.
Presenting certificates, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, congratulated participants for successfully completing programme, urging them to translate knowledge acquired into positive action within their association and communities.
Prof. Kehinde noted programme reflected FUNAAB's mandate of Teaching, Research and community engagement, particularly through Extension Services, adding initiatives of this nature strengthened bond between University and its host communities under "Town and Gown" philosophy.
Vice-Chancellor described RTEAN as responsible and committed association contributing to development of Nigeria's transport system, assuring its members of FUNAAB's readiness to sustain meaningful collaboration and partnerships with association.
Presenting participants to Vice-Chancellor, Programme Leader, Peace and Development Studies, Prof. Temitope Olaifa, stated trainees had been adequately equipped and found worthy of certification in Peace and Conflict Resolution. She explained five participants present at ceremony represented 20 trainees who successfully completed programme.
Responding on behalf of RTEAN, Dr. Fadipe Bamisaye expressed appreciation to FUNAAB for making training impactful and accessible to members of association, while commending resource persons for valuable contributions to success of programme.

Dr. Bamisaye further expressed RTEAN's willingness to deepen relationship with FUNAAB by exploring additional areas of collaboration that could enhance capacity and effectiveness of its members.
Five participants who received certificates on behalf of 20 trainees were Dr. Fadipe Bamisaye, Mr. Dasaolu Adekunle, Mr. Jenrola Mutiu, Mr. Oladipo Wasiu and Mr. Adebayo Lawal.
Also present at ceremony were Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Olusegun Idowu and Director, ICGNS, Prof. Remi Aduradola, among others.
