The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta Muslim Alumni Association (FUNAAMAA) has awarded scholarships to nineteen indigent Muslim students of the University to ease the impact of the current economic situation and support their academic aspirations.

The initiative, themed “Award of Scholarship to Indigent Muslim Students,” formed part of the Association’s annual intervention aimed at empowering financially challenged but deserving students.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), Prof. Lateef Sanni—represented by the President of FUNAAMAA, Prof. Mutiu Busari—said the scheme was designed to provide financial relief and inspire commitment to academic excellence. He encouraged the beneficiaries to remain focused and view the support as motivation to succeed and later give back to others in need.
In his remarks, the Chief Imam of the University Mosque and former Chairman of the Abeokuta Chapter of FUNAAMAA, Prof. Idris Ayinde, congratulated the recipients and urged them to prioritise their studies. He also appreciated the donors, both within Nigeria and abroad, for their continued generosity despite prevailing economic challenges. Prof. Ayinde revealed that the 2025 edition followed a rigorous interview and screening process that produced the nineteen beneficiaries.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Abeokuta Chapter of FUNAAMAA, Dr. Amisu Ahmed, explained that the number of recipients was determined by available resources, noting that ten students received partially funded scholarships while nine were awarded fully funded ones. He expressed hope that future editions would accommodate more students and commended members who contributed to the success of the programme.
Other personalities at the event included the former Social and Welfare Director of the FUNAAMAA Abeokuta Chapter, Mr. Raheem Yunus, and the Technical Secretary, Mr. Jamiu Adegoke.
