FUNIS Students Visit Aletheia University, Showcase Culture of Excellence

In a demonstration of its commitment to holistic education and experiential learning, students of FUNAAB International School (FUNIS), recently embarked on an educational visit to Aletheia University, Ago-Iwoye, where they explored the academic environment of the fast-growing institution and interacted with members of its university community.

The visit formed part of FUNIS’ broader strategy to expose students to higher education environments, inspire academic ambition, and reinforce the values of leadership, discipline and intellectual curiosity among learners.

Led by the Principal of the school, Mr. Olusola Ilori, the students paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, whose relationship with FUNIS remained significant. Before he was appointed Vice-Chancellor of Aletheia University, Prof. Akinyemi served as the immediate past Chairman of the FUNAAB Schools’ Management Board and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic.

During an engaging interactive session with representatives of the university, the students listened attentively as they were encouraged to pursue academic excellence, cultivate sound moral character, and develop leadership skills that would prepare them for future responsibilities. The atmosphere was lively and intellectually stimulating as the students posed thoughtful questions and took notes while reflecting on the guidance offered by their hosts.

Prof. Akinyemi, while addressing the visiting students, emphasised the importance of diligence, integrity and vision in the pursuit of success. He urged them to remain focused on their academic goals and to take advantage of every learning opportunity available to them, reminding them that excellence is built through discipline and continuous self-development.

Beyond the interactive session, the delegation was taken on a guided tour of the university’s serene campus. The students explored various facilities and learning spaces, gaining first-hand insight into the academic culture and infrastructure that support teaching, research and student development at Aletheia University.

One of the memorable highlights of the visit was the presentation of a framed portrait to the Vice-Chancellor by the FUNIS delegation. The gesture symbolised appreciation for his past service to the school and reaffirmed the cordial relationship between the two institutions, anchored on a shared commitment to educational advancement and youth development.
