OGITECH Resolves Land Dispute, Paves Way for Campus Expansion
The Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa, has taken a major step toward securing its land for infrastructure development following a dispute resolution led by its Rector, Dr Abiodun Oluseye.
Despite holding survey documents for approximately 207.31 hectares of land allocated for institutional use, the institute has faced recurring challenges over land ownership. Encroachments and interference by land speculators had previously stalled construction projects.
Determined to resolve the impasse, Dr Oluseye convened a stakeholders meeting on Monday, 28 September 2026, advocating dialogue to enable the institution's expansion plans.
The dialogue brought together community leaders, traditional custodians and family representatives from Igbesaland, including representatives of the Palace of the Oloja Ekun of Igbesa under His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulazeez Oluwatoyin Akinde, community elders including Chief Olagbaye, Chief Muslimi Akinogun and Chief Engineer Mike Akingbade, as well as representatives of the Igbodu family, the traditional landowners.
The initiative proceeded despite an ongoing case on the property at the High Court of Justice, Idi-Oke, demonstrating a preference for an out-of-court resolution.

Community representatives acknowledged the economic and social benefits OGITECH has brought to Igbesaland since its establishment.
Speaking on behalf of the Igbodu family, representatives commended the Rector's approach while pledging support for the polytechnic's long-term vision and appealing to the Ogun State Government for fair compensation regarding ancestral land.
With community backing now secured, the institute is set to expand its academic and residential facilities, clearing a major hurdle for its future development.
