FUOYE Scholar Bolaji Fakorede Bags DAAD Doctoral Scholarship
Mr. Bolaji Fakorede, an MSc graduate of the Department of Soil Science and Land Resources Management, Federal University Oye-Ekiti, has been awarded the prestigious German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) doctoral scholarship for the 2026/2027 academic session.
Mr. Fakorede, who currently serves as an Adjunct Lecturer in the department, obtained his Master of Science (MSc) degree under the tutelage of Prof. A.S. Fasina and Prof. Babalola T. S., distinguished scholars in the field of soil science and land resources management.
According to an official communication from DAAD, Mr. Fakorede was selected for the scholarship under the Doctoral Programmes in Germany after a rigorous selection process and the recommendation of the responsible selection committee. The award provides him the opportunity to pursue advanced doctoral studies in Germany.
His proposed doctoral research is titled “Assessing Land Management Vulnerability and Sustainability under Climate Change in Nigeria: A Modeling Approach.” The study seeks to evaluate the vulnerability of land management systems in Nigeria under changing climate conditions and to develop sustainable strategies through advanced modelling techniques.
As part of the programme, the Department of Soil Science and Land Resources Management at FUOYE will work closely with Mr. Fakorede during the fieldwork component of his research in Nigeria, providing institutional and academic support for data collection and related research activities.
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, congratulates Mr. Fakorede on the achievement, describing it as a reflection of the university’s growing global research presence and commitment to producing scholars capable of addressing pressing environmental challenges.
The DAAD scholarship is widely regarded as one of the most competitive international academic funding programmes, supporting outstanding researchers to pursue advanced studies and research in Germany. The feat further underscores the rising profile of FUOYE in international academic collaborations and research excellence.
