FUTH CMD Meets PhD and MD Scholars, Pledges Funding Support for Research Excellence
The Management of the Federal University Teaching Hospital (FUTH) on Tuesday convened a strategic consultative meeting with staff members who have attained PhD and MD qualifications, as well as those currently enrolled in advanced postgraduate training.
The session, led by the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr. Ikrama Hassan, focused on aligning the hospital’s high-level academic talent with its long-term clinical and developmental goals.
Fostering a Culture of Specialization
Opening the interactive session, Dr. Hassan tasked the scholars with clearly defining their specialized areas of interest. He emphasized that the hospital’s evolution into a world-class facility depends heavily on the specific research contributions and advanced expertise of its academic staff.
Institutional Support and Research Funding
In a significant boost to the hospital’s intellectual capital, the CMD announced that management is committed to active support through the FUTH Research Clinic. Key highlights of this support include:
Technical Assistance: Guiding staff through the complexities of high-impact research.
Financial Backing: Providing institutional assistance with research funding to ensure that lack of resources does not hinder scientific breakthroughs.
Repositioning FUTH for the Future
Concluding the meeting, Dr. Hassan challenged the PhD and MD holders to lead by example through dedication and academic excellence. He noted that their commitment is the primary vehicle required to "reposition the hospital and place it on a progressive trajectory," ensuring FUTH becomes a hub for medical innovation in the region.
