Kogi Poly Rector Bags 'Most Student-Supportive Head of Institution' Award, Assures Release Of Results Before Mid-November

The Student Union Government of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has honoured the institution's Rector, Professor Salihu Sanusi Avidime, with the award of "Most Student-Supportive Head of Institution in Kogi State."

The executive body of the Student Union, joined by Departmental and Tribal Association Heads, presented the award to Professor Avidime during an interactive leadership meeting held at his office on Monday, November 2, 2026.

Presenting the award, the SUG President, Comrade Abdulmalik Abdulwahab, stated that it was a token of gratitude for the Rector's responsive leadership and unwavering commitment to student welfare.

Comrade Abdulwahab pointed to several key interventions under the Rector's tenure, including the extensive refurbishment of student hostels and the modern overhaul of the Polytechnic Library.

He also commended Professor Avidime for creating a safe learning environment, addressing student concerns swiftly, and providing robust support for campus sports.

Echoing the praise, the Acting Dean of Students' Services, Mr. Salihu Abdulrazaq Omeiza, described Professor Avidime as an accessible administrator who consistently puts student needs first.

Accepting the award, the Rector expressed appreciation to the student body and reaffirmed his resolve to maintain policies that elevate academic standards and campus living.

During the same meeting, the Rector assured the student delegation that second-semester results for the 2025/2026 academic session will be released before mid-November.

Addressing anxieties over recent delays, Professor Avidime explained that the extra time was required to resolve minor discrepancies and ensure error-free computation to safeguard the integrity of the institution's academic records.

The Rector concluded by reiterating that his management team will remain dedicated to prioritising academic excellence alongside student comfort.
