FUTIA Felicitates AKSU on 6th, 7th and 8th Combined Convocation Ceremonies

The Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi (FUTIA) has joined other stakeholders in congratulating the Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) community on the occasion of its 6th, 7th, and 8th combined Convocation Ceremony, held on Saturday, 28th February 2026 at the University Sports Ground, Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.

The Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi (FUTIA) has joined other stakeholders in congratulating the Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) community on the occasion of its 6th, 7th, and 8th combined Convocation Ceremony, held on Saturday, 28th February 2026 at the University Sports Ground, Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin Local Government Ara.

 

The Vice-Chancellor of FUTIA, Professor Leo Daniel, delivered a goodwill message on behalf of FUTIA’s Chancellor, Alhaji Muhammadu Barau Mu’azu, the Governing Council led by Rt. Hon. Dr. Emaeyak Ukpong, as well as the Management, Staff, and Students of FUTIA. In his message, Professor Daniel commended AKSU’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor OtoAbasi Akpan, the University management, staff, and graduands for achieving a significant academic milestone that reflects dedication, hard work, and excellence.

“Since its inception, Akwa Ibom State University has contributed meaningfully to academic excellence in pedagogy, research, and community development in both the State and the nation, while fostering collaborations with key stakeholders,” Professor Daniel stated.

Describing AKSU as the first State-owned University in Akwa Ibom, he said the institution “stands as a beacon of knowledge, innovation, and cultural heritage, nurturing citizens, advancing academic scholarship, and fostering a global community committed to making a difference.”

The FUTIA Vice-Chancellor highlighted his institution’s commitment to exploring mutually beneficial collaborations with AKSU in research, manpower development, and technological innovation, aimed at raising the quality of life within host communities, the State, and the nation.

Professor Daniel also congratulated the Chancellor, His Eminence Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon D. Etuk, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Senator Udoma U. Udoma, and the Vice-Chancellor on their appointments and inauguration by the Visitor to the University, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno, Ph.D., whose Deputy, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, represented him at the ceremony.

A total of 3,836 graduands were presented during the combined convocation, with 96 earning First Class Honours. Graduands received First Degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas, Higher Degrees, and Prizes, while honorary degrees were conferred across various academic disciplines.

The convocation attracted heads of other federal and state institutions in Akwa Ibom, parents, stakeholders, and members of the academic community. Professor Daniel encouraged the graduands to take pride in their achievements and the contributions they will make to humanity in their future endeavors.

This gesture reinforces FUTIA’s commitment to fostering inter-institutional collaboration and celebrating milestones that advance academic excellence and societal development.
