The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi (FUTIA), Professor Leo Daniel, has commended the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer and Management of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Segun Aina, for hosting the agency’s Management and Information Technology (IT) Retreat in Akwa Ibom State, describing the choice of the state as strategic.

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi (FUTIA), Professor Leo Daniel, has commended the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer and Management of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Segun Aina, for hosting the agency’s Management and Information Technology (IT) Retreat in Akwa Ibom State, describing the choice of the state as strategic.

The FUTIA Vice-Chancellor, who is also the Chief External Examiner of JAMB in Akwa Ibom State for 2026, gave the commendation in his goodwill message at the opening ceremony of the Management and Information Technology Retreat organised by JAMB.

The event is holding at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotels, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, and is scheduled from Sunday, September 6 through Friday, September 11, 2026.

Prof. Daniel, on behalf of the Management, staff and students of FUTIA, as well as the JAMB State Coordinator in Uyo, Mrs. Grace Olima-William; the Technical Advisor, Prof. Uyi Ekong; Peace Monitor, Prof. Comfort Ekpo; and staff of JAMB in Uyo, congratulated Professor Segun Aina on his appointment by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the agency, as well as his subsequent assumption of office.

The FUTIA Vice-Chancellor further acknowledged the outstanding performance of the immediate past JAMB Registrar/CEO, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, while expressing confidence that the new Registrar would consolidate on the foundation laid by previous managements of the Board.

The JAMB Chief External Examiner in Akwa Ibom used the occasion to pledge the commitment of the JAMB office and team in Uyo to supporting the transformative policies and initiatives of the new management of JAMB led by Professor Aina.

He also called for stakeholders’ support across board towards the growth of the country’s examination body.

The JAMB Retreat brings together the Management of JAMB from its headquarters in Abuja, Coordinators from all the states of the federation, service providers, stakeholders and essential Board staff to review the outgoing year, discuss organisational performance and strategise for the new calendar year and examination cycle.

The programme combines a strong Information and Communication Technology (ICT) focus with management strategic sessions, as well as a bonding and tour component designed to strengthen team cohesion ahead of the new cycle.

The retreat also serves as the first strategic engagement between the new Registrar/CEO, Management and stakeholders to build consensus, promote institutional cohesion and establish clear expectations for performance.

Some staff of the University on the Vice-Chancellor’s delegation to the retreat include the FUTIA Admission Officer, Edidiong Ukpong, and the Information and Public Relations Officer, Peter Saturday.
