FUTMinna Launches 7th Research Products Exhibition to Drive Industrial Innovation

As part of activities marking the 34th Convocation and 43rd Founders’ Day ceremonies of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, officially declared open the 7th Research Products Exhibition on Friday, January 30, 2026. The event took place at the Suleiman Kumo Convocation Square, Main Campus, Gidan Kwano.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Kuta commended members of the University community for their outstanding and impactful research outputs. He called on local investors and industry stakeholders to partner with the University by supporting and commercializing its research products, noting that such collaborations would contribute significantly to national development and economic growth in Nigeria.

The Vice-Chancellor described the 2026 edition of the exhibition as unique, citing the presence of a representative of the Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology. He emphasised that FUT Minna continues to perform excellently in research and innovation and deserves sustained encouragement and support.

Also speaking at the event, the representative of the Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. V. O. Fadipe, Head of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and Director of Science and Technology Promotion, applauded FUT, Minna for its achievements in research, innovation, and development. 

He stressed the importance of strong collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology and Nigerian universities of science and technology, stating that such partnerships would drive knowledge creation and accelerate the nation’s transition from a consumption based to a production driven economy.

Delivering the vote of thanks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) and Chairman of the University Ceremonies Committee, Prof. Uno E. Uno, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and members of the exhibition committees for the successful hosting of the event.

He reaffirmed that FUT Minna is widely recognized across the country for the quality and relevance of its research outputs.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of the Exhibition Sub-Committee, Dr. Emmanuel Daniya, welcomed the Vice-Chancellor and other principal officers to the 7th exhibition. He highlighted the University's long standing tradition of showcasing its research and innovation activities, emphasising the objectives of the exhibition.

Other dignitaries in attendance included external members of the University Governing Council, led by Mr. Timothy Ademola.

 A total of 54 research products from various schools, directorates, and centres of the University were displayed at different exhibition stands.

The exhibition was scheduled to run from Friday, January 30 to Sunday, February 1, 2026.
