Governor Zulum Inaugurates Second BOSU Governing Council

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has inaugurated the second Governing Council of Borno State University (BOSU), with Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi as Chairman for the second time.

The inauguration ceremony was held at the Council Chamber of the Government House.

In his remarks, Governor Zulum described the Governing Council as the legal custodian of the university’s destiny, entrusted with the responsibility of providing strategic direction, ensuring high standards of academic excellence, and safeguarding the welfare of both staff and students.

He congratulated the newly inaugurated members, stressing that their selection was not by chance but based on integrity, past experience, and a demonstrable passion for education and community development.

The Governor acknowledged the contributions of the Pro-Chancellor and other council members over the past four years, noting their strong support for the growth of the university.

Professor Zulum on behalf of the Borno State Government and the university community, expressed appreciation for their dedicated Service to the state.

Governor Zulum highlighted the remarkable progress of BOSU, which began four years ago with only three hundred students but now has a population of over 10,000 and commended the council chairman and members for their efforts, while reminding them of the significant challenges ahead.

He tasked them to promote rigorous research, innovative teaching, and a curriculum that responds to the realities of post-insurgency recovery and sustainable development.

He further urged them to manage the university’s resources with transparency and accountability, while working closely with the management to maintain a serene and conducive environment for learning and intellectual engagement, which aligns with the state government’s commitment to curbing social vices.

He called on the council to strengthen partnerships with industries, as well as academic institutions locally and internationally, in order to attract resources, expertise, and global best practices to BOSU.

"The inauguration is coming at a time when this administration is making massive investments in the education sector with about one hundred and thirty six institutions spread across the state.

I therefore urged management, staff, and students of the university to fully cooperate with the new governing council, as their success is our success, and our collective success is the success of the government and the entire people of the state.”says the

 Governor.

He commended the efforts of Professor Emeritus Abubakar Mustapha and Professor Shettima Umara Bulakarima for their remarkable contributions to the growth and stability of the university.

In his brief acceptance remarks, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Alhaji (DR) Muhammadu Indimi assured the Governor that, with the caliber of people on the council, they would justify confidence reposed in them.

Other members of the second BOSU Governing Council are the Vice Chancellor Professor Babagana Gutti, DVC Central Administration Professor Shettima Mustapha Bulama, DVC Academics Professor Shuaibu Garba Ngulde, the Registrar and Secretary of the council Mrs Jallaba M. Sheikh.

Others, include Professor Emeritus Abubakar Mustapha, 

representing Borno Central, Professor Shettima Umara Bulakarima, Borno North and Professor Suleiman Bello to represent Borno South.
