GSS Shabu Emerges Winner of FULafia 2025 Secondary Schools Debate

The Government Secondary School (GSS) Shabu, Lafia L.G.A., has taken top honors at the recently concluded FULafia 2025 Secondary Schools Debate.
The 4-day program, organized by the Centre for Local Economy Development, FULafia, in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science, FULafia, aimed to showcase the intelligence and knowledge of the younger generation, particularly their views on Artificial Intelligence.
This year's debate, themed "Artificial Intelligence: A Blessing or a Curse," featured schools from four zones of the state, including Lafia East, Shabu, Lafia Central, and Asakio. The grand finale, held at the Malam Adamu Lecture and Office Complex, FULafia, saw GSS Shabu's representatives, Jonathan Suleman, Gift Obi, and Peace Ayoade, successfully opposing the motion.
The Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, commended the students for their impressive defense of the debate's topic from different angles. He encouraged other institutions and organizations to emulate FULafia by sponsoring more programs that would help students.
GSS Shabu took home the grand prize of ₦200,000, while gift items and cash prizes were also awarded to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th runners-up. Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, the Vice Chancellor of FULafia, emphasized the importance of the program in highlighting the students' smartness and knowledge.
Hon. Mohammed Haliru Arabo, the Chairman of Lafia Local Government Council of Nasarawa State, commended the University for organizing the debate, praising the students' intelligence and smartness.
