Igbinedion University Okada to Hold 23rd Convocation, Spotlighting Education, National Prosperity, and AI in Academia

Igbinedion University, Okada, Nigeria’s leading private university, is set to hold its 23rd Convocation Ceremony on Friday, November 28, and Saturday, November 29, 2025.

The two-day event will bring together academics, dignitaries, students, and alumni to celebrate the graduating class and explore the evolving role of education in national development.

The convocation will begin on Friday, November 28, with a distinguished Convocation Lecture delivered by the Hon. Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, MBBS, FWACS, Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. Dr. Sununu will present on the theme: “The Nexus between Education and National Prosperity in a Transformative Economy.” The lecture will hold at the University Library Conference Hall starting at 10:00 AM.

On Saturday, November 29, the ceremony will culminate in the formal conferment of First Degrees, Higher Degrees, and the presentation of prizes to deserving graduates. Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), will serve as the Guest Speaker. He will address the theme: “Interrogating the Potentials, Prospects and Challenges of AI as The New Order in Higher Education,” highlighting the integration of artificial intelligence into higher education in Nigeria and beyond. The ceremony will commence at 10:00 AM in the University’s Main Auditorium.
