Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Urges Youths to Embrace Education as a Tool for Self-Reliance

As the 44th Convocation Ceremony of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE), Rumuolumeni, Port-Harcourt, approaches in March 2026, Dr. Udu Moses Ogechi, a Political Science and Public Administration doctoral graduand of the university, has emphasized that education remains a powerful tool for self-reliance and personal development.

Speaking in Port-Harcourt, Dr. Ogechi urged youths to view education as an instrument for growth rather than a scam. He highlighted his positive academic journey at IAUE, praising the institution for its uninterrupted teaching and learning environment, free from strikes, and for upholding world-standard quality in education.

Dr. Ogechi commended the administration, led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Okechuku Onuchuku, for its strict policies against cultism and other vices, describing the university as a safe and disciplined environment for students. He noted that education serves as a critical weapon against inferiority complex, providing confidence, fulfillment, and a path toward self-sufficiency.

Advising youths on responsible behavior, Dr. Ogechi stressed the need to avoid criminal activities, such as kidnapping and quick-rich schemes, and urged them to prioritize education as future leaders. He reiterated that sustained focus on learning would equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead effectively and positively impact society.

The Public Relations Officer of IAUE, Dr. Ngozi Okiridu, confirmed that the convocation plans aim to celebrate academic excellence while reinforcing the university’s commitment to producing disciplined, competent, and socially responsible graduates.
