IMC Monitors Implementation of Revitalisation Fund at FUNAAB
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), today, September 4, 2025, played host to the Implementation Monitoring Committee (IMC), of the Federal Ministry of Education on the Revitalisation Fund for Nigerian Public Universities, as part of the nationwide exercise to assess the utilisation of the 2021 Intervention Fund.
The monitoring visit was led by Prof. Salihu Mustafa, former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Yola, Adamawa State. The team expressed satisfaction with the work done on the projects inspected, commending the University Management for judicious utilisation of the funds.
Prof. Mustafa, a Civil Engineer, noted that the IMC was impressed with the quality and progress of the projects, adding that the Committee would reflect its findings in a comprehensive report to the Federal Government. He described the exercise as part of efforts by the Federal Ministry of Education to reposition and strengthen higher education in Nigeria.
In his remarks at the Exit Meeting, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, expressed appreciation to the Monitoring Team for its objective assessment. He assured that FUNAAB remained committed to transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in managing the Revitalisation Fund.
According to him, the establishment of the Budget Monitoring Committee (BMC) within the University had ensured prudent management of the intervention, with active involvement of all stakeholders to guarantee sustainability and maximum impact.
Meanwhile, projects inspected during the exercise included the completion and furnishing of Postgraduate Students’ Hostel 2; supply and installation of furniture in Undergraduate Hostels 1 and 2; external works and provision of facilities for the extension of the Senate Chamber, as well as the 3MW Hybrid Solar Farm Project that has sustained the University on an interrupted power supply for six months.
The monitoring exercise formed part of the Federal Government’s oversight of the ₦30 billion Revitalisation Fund disbursed across 60 public universities, to enhance infrastructure, improve teaching and research quality, and create a more conducive learning environment.
