JAMB Extends 2025/2026 Admission Deadline for Public Universities to November 17
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced an extension of the deadline for the 2025/2026 admission exercise into public universities to Monday, November 17, 2025.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced an extension of the deadline for the 2025/2026 admission exercise into public universities to Monday, November 17, 2025.
According to a statement from the Board, the decision followed a formal appeal by the Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU), citing disruptions caused by a recent court order that delayed the release of the 2025/2026 admission list until October 28, 2025.
JAMB explained that the extension also accommodates the National Universities Commission (NUC)’s approval of 229 new academic programmes across 37 universities, which were only announced on October 29, 2025, and whose admissions are just commencing.

The Board emphasized that this new deadline would be the final extension and urged all institutions and candidates to ensure that admissions are properly concluded before the stated date.
“This extension is to guarantee fairness, inclusiveness, and the seamless completion of admissions into all public universities,” the statement read.
JAMB therefore advised all prospective students to complete their admissions processing without delay and called on stakeholders in the tertiary education sector to adhere strictly to the revised schedule.
