Jigawa State College of Remedial and Advanced Studies Partners with NiMet to Establish Modern Weather Station

The Jigawa State College of Remedial and Advanced Studies (JICORAS) has partnered with the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) to establish a modern weather station on its premises. The collaboration aims to enhance climate monitoring, research, and data-driven decision-making in the region.

During a feasibility and assessment visit on November 11, 2025, NiMet representatives met with JICORAS management to discuss the project. The proposed weather station is part of NiMet's initiative to expand its network of meteorological stations across Nigerian tertiary institutions.

Provost of JICORAS, Dr. Ma'aji I Abubukar, welcomed the partnership, stating that it would strengthen academic and research capacity, providing students and staff with hands-on learning and innovation opportunities. The weather station will serve as a vital resource for the college community and the wider Jigawa region, contributing to national efforts in climate resilience and environmental sustainability.
