Kashim Ibrahim University VC Appointed Co-Patron of Borno Tertiary Institution Debating Championship

The Chairman of the Borno State Tertiary Institution Debating and Eloquent Championship (BOTIDEC), Comrade Ali Muhammad, alongside members of the organization, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Kashim Ibrahim University (KIU), Professor Babagana Gutti.

During the visit, Comrade Ali Muhammad stated that the purpose of their engagement was to respectfully request the Vice-Chancellor’s acceptance to serve as the Co-Patron of BOTIDEC. He emphasized that the organization strongly believes that Professor Gutti’s leadership and guidance will significantly strengthen its mission and enhance its impact within tertiary institutions.

He further highlighted the core aims and objectives of BOTIDEC, which include promoting academic excellence, encouraging research and critical thinking, organizing capacity-building programmes such as workshops and seminars, fostering collaboration among students, and developing responsible future leaders.

In line with these objectives, the Chairman also noted that the organization presented its nomination letter and registration documents for its upcoming “Intellectual Week.” The programme is designed to provide a platform for knowledge sharing, innovation, and active academic engagement among students of tertiary institutions.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babagana Gutti, warmly welcomed the delegation on behalf of the university management and expressed his appreciation for the initiative. He pledged the university’s support, noting that it is timely to encourage young students to develop public speaking and presentation skills before large audiences.
