Kaduna State University (KASU) has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence academic activities at its Distance Learning Institute, marking a major step towards expanding access to flexible and technology-driven higher education.

Kaduna State University (KASU) has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence academic activities at its Distance Learning Institute, marking a major step towards expanding access to flexible and technology-driven higher education.

The approval was communicated in a letter dated July 15, 2026, following the successful validation of the proposed institute by an NUC panel that visited the university from April 14 to 16, 2026.

According to the NUC, the Distance Learning Institute will begin operations with the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme, which will be delivered through the ICT-Enabled Supported Blended Learning mode under the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system.

The Commission directed KASU to ensure strict compliance with all regulatory guidelines for distance learning programmes in Nigerian universities and to implement the recommendations contained in the panel’s technical report.

The NUC also announced that a Post-Validation Assessment Exercise will be conducted after one year of operation to evaluate the institute’s compliance, quality assurance standards and overall performance.

The Commission further stated that any additional programmes proposed by the university must undergo separate programme-by-programme assessment and receive approval before commencement.

The approval represents a significant milestone in KASU’s efforts to leverage technology to widen educational opportunities and provide more flexible learning options for students and professionals.
