KHAIRUN Management Pays Courtesy Visit to Kano State Deputy Governor

The management of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN), led by its visionary Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, on Monday, 3rd November 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of Kano State and Commissioner for Higher Education, His Excellency, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo.

During the visit, the Vice-Chancellor expressed profound appreciation to the Deputy Governor for the warm reception and opportunity to engage with the state leadership. He gave a brief history of the university, highlighting its rapid growth, notable achievements, and unique identity among Nigerian universities. Professor Garba emphasized that KHAIRUN distinguishes itself through its three compulsory programmes: Qur’anic Recitation and Memorization, Moral Lessons, and Entrepreneurship. These reflect the noble vision and enduring legacy of its founder, the late Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu.

The Vice-Chancellor further informed His Excellency of the recent scholarship initiative sponsored by the Abdul Samad Rabiu Foundation, which has offered scholarships to 500 Nigerians. He concluded by seeking the Deputy Governor’s continued support, blessings, and prayers for the progress of the university.

In his response, The Deputy Governor warmly welcomed Professor Garba and his entourage by expressing delight over the visit. He officially congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on his appointment as the pioneer VC of the institution and commended KHAIRUN for its outstanding contributions to educational development in the state.

The Deputy Governor described KHAIRUN as one of the fastest growing universities in Nigeria and expressed confidence in the leadership of Professor Garba, by citing his commitment, competence, and dedication to excellence. He also lauded the university for being the first to demonstrate support for the state government’s declaration of a state of emergency on education.

The Deputy Governor assured the university of the continued collaboration and support of his office and the state government. He prayed for the repose of the soul of the university’s founder and wished KHAIRUN greater success in its mission to promote quality education and moral excellence.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for both parties to deliberate on ways to strengthen partnership and enhance the quality of higher education in Kano State.
