Kogi Poly Rector Strengthens Itakpe Campus with New Deanery Appointments
To bolster academic administration at its Itakpe Campus, the Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Professor Salihu Sanusi Avidime, has approved the appointment of two seasoned academics as Acting Deans.
The appointments, effective April 10, 2026, are part of a strategic effort to ensure leadership continuity and academic excellence across the Polytechnic’s specialized schools.
Mr. Mayomi Shola Dickson, a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Arts and Social Sciences, has been named the Acting Dean, School of Preliminary Studies.
Mr. Mayomi is a veteran administrator, having previously served as Head of Department and Dean of the School of Part-time and Vocational Studies. His track record of maintaining stability and fostering student development was cited as a primary reason for his selection for this "sensitive responsibility."
Engr. Abubakar Mohammed, a Principal Lecturer and former Head of the Electrical/Electronic Engineering Department, has been appointed Acting Dean, School of Engineering Technology.
Widely respected for his technical expertise and research background, Engr. Mohammed is expected to leverage his experience in fostering professionalism and innovation to advance the engineering programs at the Itakpe annex.
These appointments are seen as a vital step in reinforcing the Polytechnic’s mandate and improving administrative efficiency at its satellite campuses.
