Kogi State Government Takes Proactive Measures Following FULOKOJA  Accident

The Kogi State Government has expressed deep sympathies to the families of victims affected by the recent accident in Lokoja, which resulted in loss of lives and severe injuries. In response to the incident, the government has initiated measures to enhance road safety, particularly along the Federal University, Lokoja (FUL) highway.

 

To address the issue, His Excellency Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Chief Servant of Kogi State, has directed the State Ministry of Works to collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Works. The objective is to enforce speed limits on the section of the road surrounding the Federal University, Lokoja.

Additionally, the State Security Adviser and the Commissioner for Transportation have been tasked with developing strategies to regulate the movement of heavy trucks during peak hours along the institution.

The government has urged all road users to exercise caution and students to remain calm, assuring them that the state government is committed to working with the university management to improve safety measures.

 

The speed limit enforcement is expected to reduce the risk of accidents, especially in areas with high foot traffic, such as institutions of learning .
