The Kwara State Government, in partnership with Smart-Purposed Executives, has relaunched a free transportation initiative to support UNILORIN students and residents amid economic challenges.
In a bid to alleviate the financial strain caused by the ongoing economic challenges, the Kwara State Government, in collaboration with the Smart-Purposed Executives, has announced the relaunch of a free transportation palliative program for residents, particularly students at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN).
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology confirmed that buses will now provide free transportation from the Post Office to various key locations, including Tanke, Unilorin, Oyun, UITH, and Okeose. Previously, transportation fares for these routes ranged from ₦300 to ₦500. For instance, the fare from the Post Office to Tanke - Unilorin was ₦500, while the Oyun - UITH - Okeose route cost students, staff, and the public ₦400.
The Smart-Purposed Executives encourage all students and residents to take full advantage of this initiative, which aims to mitigate transportation challenges during these difficult times. They also expressed gratitude to the State Government for its timely support in enhancing student welfare.
This program underscores the commitment to improving the overall well-being of the University of Ilorin community and ensuring that students can navigate their academic responsibilities without the burden of transportation costs.
