UNIBEN Activates 2026/2027 Hostel Application Portal, Warns Students Over Unclaimed Bed Spaces and Prohibited Items

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has announced the activation of its hostel accommodation portal for the 2026/2027 academic session, with bed spaces to be allocated through the “Fastest Finger” system.

According to a notice to students, the portal was scheduled to open on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 12:00 noon. Interested students were advised to take note of the date and time to apply for available bed spaces.

The university also warned that any allocated bed space that is not cleared through payment and completion of the required documentation within two days of allocation will be withdrawn and reassigned to another student.

In addition, the management reiterated its ban on prohibited items in student hostels and warned that violations could attract severe disciplinary action, including rustication or expulsion from the university.

The prohibited items listed in the notice include:

* Hot plates

* Microwave ovens

* Washing machines

* Electric kettles

* Gas cookers

Students have been advised to comply with the hostel regulations and complete all accommodation requirements within the stipulated timeframe to avoid losing their allocated bed spaces or facing disciplinary sanctions.
