LASU-SDG Centre Opens Applications for OPAY National Innovation Challenge 2026

The Lagos State University (LASU), through its Centre for the Actualisation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (LASU-SDG), in collaboration with Opay Digital Services Limited, has announced the commencement of applications for the OPAY National Innovation Challenge 2026.

The initiative is a national innovation-driven programme designed to promote creativity, problem-solving, and technology-based solutions among students across participating institutions, with a strong focus on addressing real-world socio-economic challenges through digital innovation.

According to the announcement, participation is open exclusively to LASU students, who are expected to form teams of five members each to qualify for the competition.

Each team is required to conceptualize and submit a tangible and innovative solution through the official OPAY application portal within the stipulated application window.

The application portal officially opened on Monday, 25th May 2026, and will remain active until Sunday, 14th June 2026. Students have been urged to complete their registration and submissions early to avoid last-minute technical constraints.

The university further advised interested participants to engage with the LASU-SDG Office for guidance, documentation, and further clarification throughout the application process. The office is located on the 3rd Floor of the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building at the LASU Main Campus, Ojo.

Management emphasized that the initiative aligns with LASU’s broader commitment to innovation, entrepreneurship development, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in fostering youth-driven solutions to contemporary challenges.

LASU reaffirmed its encouragement for students to actively participate in competitive opportunities that build capacity, enhance employability, and position them for global relevance.
