LASUED Meets LASHMA Delegation To Strengthen Health Insurance Scheme For Staff And Students

The management of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) has met with a delegation from the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) to strengthen the implementation of the Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme, Ilera Eko, for staff and students of the university.

The meeting, held during a follow-up visit by the LASHMA team to LASUED’s Oto/Ijanikin campus on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, focused on improving access to healthcare services, increasing student enrolment, promoting staff participation and integrating the LASHMA portal link into the university’s official website.

The Vice-Chancellor of LASUED, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, who received the delegation, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to supporting the Lagos State Government’s health insurance initiative.

She assured the team that the university would continue to implement measures aimed at facilitating student registration, encouraging staff participation and ensuring the smooth operation of the scheme within the institution.

The LASHMA delegation, led by the Coordinator of Regulations, Mr Tosin Awosika, commended LASUED’s efforts towards supporting the health insurance programme.

The team engaged the university management on areas requiring further attention and discussed practical steps to improve the implementation of the scheme.

The discussions centred on enhancing healthcare accessibility and ensuring that both staff and students benefit effectively from the initiative.

Members of the LASUED management team present at the meeting included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor M.A. Daodu; Registrar, Mr Akinfemiwa Opeoluwa Akinlabi; Bursar, Mr Ajose Ganiu Adeniyi; Director of LASUED Medical Services and Health Centre, Dr Ibrahim Sanusi; and Deputy Registrar, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mrs Sami Omolara.

The engagement reflects LASUED’s continued commitment to staff and student welfare through partnerships that promote improved healthcare access and institutional wellbeing.
