"Library is the Heart of the University," Says ACU VC During NLA Visit

The Vice-Chancellor, Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, Prof. Ebunoluwa Oduwole, has reaffirmed the critical role of the library in academic life, declaring it "the heart of every university."

Prof. Oduwole made the remark while receiving members of the Oyo State chapter of the Nigerian Library Association (NLA) during a courtesy visit to her office.

Addressing the visiting team, who came in the company of the University Librarian, Dr. Bose Ajiboye, the Vice-Chancellor assured that the university management does not take the library for granted and remains fully committed to its continuous support.

She also praised Dr. Ajiboye for her dedication and contributions, describing her as a valuable asset to the institution.

Prof. Oduwole further expressed her delight at being associated with members of the NLA, underscoring the university’s strong alignment with the association's professional goals.

Earlier in his remarks, the NLA State Chairman, Mr. Olugbenga Adeyi, expressed appreciation for the university’s consistent support toward the association. He briefed the Vice-Chancellor on the association's recent activities and described ACU as a strong pillar of support for the NLA.

Mr. Adeyi, on behalf of the association, lauded Prof. Oduwole as a woman of excellence in recognition of her commitment to the advancement of the university library.

The high point of the visit was the decoration of the Vice-Chancellor with the association’s lapel, a symbolic honour acknowledging her well-deserved support for the development of the university library.

Present at the event were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Olukayode Binuyo; Acting Head, Department of Library and Information Science, Dr. Olutoyin Oso; and other executives of the NLA, Oyo State Chapter.
