Dispute over HIV and hepatitis C allegedly turned violent, leaving an IMT graduate dead and her boyfriend, a Nekede Poly Graduate, under arrest.

30-year-old Graduate of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Okpara Chibuike Emmanuel, arrested over the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Chinyere Rosemary Ugwu, a graduate of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, has given an account of the incident.

Emmanuel reportedly disclosed that the incident occurred at midnight on September 19, following an argument between him and his girlfriend over his claim that he could cure hepatitis C and HIV.

According to his account, the disagreement began when Ugwu questioned his claim and allegedly asked whether he was responsible for infecting her with HIV.

The question reportedly triggered a heated argument between the couple, which subsequently escalated into a physical confrontation.

Emmanuel admitted that he struck Ugwu with a pestle before stabbing her several times with a knife, leading to her death.

He further stated that after her death, he damaged her two mobile phones.

The suspect, who is a student of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede in Imo State, was subsequently arrested over the alleged killing of his girlfriend, an IMT graduate.

The incident has drawn attention to the fatal consequences of the confrontation, which reportedly began with a disagreement over HIV and hepatitis C.

However, the suspect's account represents his version of events, and the full circumstances surrounding the alleged murder remain subject to investigation.
