MAU Yola Emerges 2nd at NOA North East Zonal Debate After Winning Statewide Contest

Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, has once again demonstrated its academic excellence and intellectual strength by securing second position at the North East Zonal Campus Debate Competition organized by the National Orientation Agency (NOA).
The competition, which was held on Thursday, 25th September 2025 at the Federal Secretariat Conference Hall, Gombe State, featured top student debaters from across the North East region.
Before advancing to the zonal stage, the MAU team had earlier participated in the statewide debate competition where it clinched first position, earning the right to represent Adamawa State at the zonal level.
The university was proudly represented by two students, Lucas Manasseh (Department of Chemistry) and Blessing Dauda (Vocational Education), under the guidance of Dr. Isiaka Taiye Owonwami, the University’s Focal Person on NGOs/INGOs.
The Dean, Students' Affairs, Prof. A.M. Saddiq and Prof. A.U. Okoronka, Director Institute of Education, accompanied the team.
Both scholars, commended the dedication, resilience, and brilliance of the students, describing the achievement as “a reflection of the university’s culture of excellence and commitment to nurturing globally competitive talents.”
They added: “This victory belongs not only to the debaters but to the entire MAU community, staff, students, and management who continue to work tirelessly to uphold the values of discipline, innovation, and scholarship.”
The team appreciated and applauded the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibrahim Umar for his unwavering support towards promoting academic excellence.
The University community, has celebrated this milestone with pride, noting that it highlights MAU’s growing reputation as a citadel of learning where talents are nurtured to make an impact at state, regional, and national levels.
