MAU Management Warns Against "Hostel Commercialization"; Threatens Dismissal for Offenders
The management of Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, has issued a stern warning to its undergraduate students following reports of the illegal sale and commercialization of university hostel bed spaces.
In an official circular dated February 24, 2026, the Student Affairs Division expressed "dismay" over credible information that some students are not only selling allocated spaces but also dubiously using the identities of their peers to secure accommodation.
Key Points from the Directive:
Zero Tolerance Policy: The University Administration described these acts as a direct contravention of the institution's mentorship goals and academic ethos.
Severe Sanctions: The Student Affairs Officer (SAO), A.A. Musa, acting on behalf of the Dean of Student Affairs, stated that any student caught perpetrating or facilitating these acts shall be dismissed from the University.
Ongoing Allocation: The management assured students that the administration is working to provide adequate accommodation within the limits of available resources.
Call for Calm: Students are urged to remain patient and calm as the official hostel allocation exercise is still ongoing.
The University reiterated its commitment to a fair and transparent housing process, warning that the "commercialization" of university properties for personal gain will be met with the highest level of disciplinary action.
