Meet Dorcas Ogunnoiki, FUTA Best Graduating Female Student

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has celebrated a remarkable story of resilience following the emergence of Dorcas Ogunnoiki as the Best Overall Graduating Female Student for the 2025 academic session.

Graduating from the Department of Quantity Surveying, Dorcas achieved a stellar 4.85 CGPA, earning 68 A’s and 12 B’s throughout her academic journey. Her path to the podium, however, was marked by significant personal challenges that make her success even more profound.

Dorcas entered FUTA as an orphan, carrying the emotional weight of her loss. The hardship initially took a toll on her studies and mental well-being:

The Struggle: At one point, her CGPA dipped to 4.42, leading some to suggest she abandon her pursuit of a First Class degree.

The Turning Point: Despite the "silence" and the burdens she carried, Dorcas found the inner strength to persevere, eventually surpassing the expectations of those around her.

Reflecting on her achievement, Dorcas admitted that she did not start university with the goal of being the best. "Grace found me," she shared, noting that the version of herself in 100 level could never have imagined standing where she is today.

By overcoming both academic pressure and personal grief, Dorcas Ogunnoiki has become a true trailblazer and an inspiration to students nationwide, proving that set-backs do not define the final destination.
