McPherson University Introduces New Measures for Smooth Resumption
McPherson University has introduced new measures to ensure a smooth, safe and orderly resumption for the 2026/2027 academic session.
Under the new arrangements, students are required to purchase luggage tags at designated points upon entry to the campus and attach one to each piece of luggage. University officials will transport the tagged luggage to the appropriate halls of residence.
On arrival, parents and guardians will park in designated areas near the main gate and take university buses to the 500-seater ultra-modern hall for an interaction with key members of the university community. Students will be transported to the Stephen and Hannah Obaro Multipurpose Hall for registration. After registration, they will return to their halls of residence where their luggage will be waiting.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francis Igbasan, announced the procedures at a meeting with the Registration Committee headed by Dr Oladapo Adeduro. He explained that private vehicles would not be allowed on campus during resumption to ease traffic and strengthen security. University shuttles will provide internal transportation for parents and guardians, who are expected to return home after the interaction. Access to student hostels will be restricted to pre-authorised persons only.

Resumption will begin with the Faculty of Nursing Science on Monday, 19 October 2026, College of Computing on Tuesday, 20 October, Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science on Wednesday, 21 October, and College of Law on Thursday, 22 October. Students in the College of Humanities, Social and Management Sciences, Public Health, Health Information Management, and College of Natural and Applied Sciences will resume on Friday, 23 October. Returning students will resume on Monday, 26 October 2026 under similar arrangements.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kenneth Nwoko, the Registrar, Mrs Emi Alawode, the University Bursar, Mrs Aderonke Adeofun, and the University Librarian, Dr Jerome Idiengbeyen-Ose, were among members of the university community present at the meeting.
The Vice-Chancellor reiterated that security measures have been put in place to protect students, parents and guardians and to maintain order throughout the exercise, and appealed for cooperation to ensure seamless resumption.
