Muhammad Kamalud-deen University Records 100 Percent NUC Accreditation, Prepares for Maiden Convocation in 2027

The Vice-Chancellor of Muhammad Kamalud-deen University, MKU, Ogidi, Ilorin, Professor Rasheed Gbenga Jimoh, has disclosed that the institution recorded 100 percent success in its recent accreditation exercise conducted by the National Universities Commission, NUC.

Speaking during a radio interview programme, The Beat, Professor Jimoh outlined the university’s growth trajectory since receiving its operating licence in June 2023.

He recalled that the university was granted its operational licence on June 9, 2023, followed by a mandatory NUC resource verification exercise in October 2023. Academic activities commenced in late 2023 with 15 degree programmes, and student enrolment has grown to over 500.

Providing updates on regulatory compliance, the Vice-Chancellor said the university presented 13 programmes for NUC accreditation and secured full accreditation for 10 courses and interim accreditation for three.

He emphasised that the positive outcome ensures that the university’s pioneer cohort, set to enter their final year in October 2026, will be eligible for graduation and subsequent mobilisation for the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, ahead of the maiden convocation scheduled for 2027.

Professor Jimoh further revealed that the institution underwent an NUC institutional assessment between April 20 and 23, 2026, as part of requirements to transition from a provisional licence to full operating status.

He also disclosed that the university completed resource preparations in August 2026 for proposed expansion into Law and Health Sciences. The new programmes include Bachelor of Laws, LLB, Nursing Science, Public Health, Medical Laboratory Science, and Doctor of Physiotherapy. The university is currently awaiting final regulatory approval to commence admissions into the new faculties.

Established to preserve the educational legacy of the late Sheikh Muhammad Kamalud-deen Al-Adaby, founder of the Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria, the university continues to expand access through targeted scholarships.

Professor Jimoh noted that the proprietor offers full tuition waivers for Arabic Language and Islamic Studies, alongside subsidised fee structures for STEM disciplines such as Mathematics and Data Science. He said the initiative is aimed at ensuring affordable, high-quality tertiary education for young Nigerians.
