NEDC Hands Over Site for Faculty Library and Veterinary Clinic at GSU Malam Sidi Campus

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has officially handed over the site for the construction of a Faculty Library and a Veterinary Clinic at the Faculty of Agriculture, Gombe State University (GSU), Malam Sidi Campus.

The site handover exercise took place at the Faculty of Agriculture site, formerly Government Secondary School (GSS), Malam Sidi, with the NEDC leading the process as the executing agency of the project.

Officials of the Ministry of Higher Education and the Management of Gombe State University were present as witnesses and observers, while the University remains the beneficiary institution.

The NEDC was represented by the Gombe State Coordinator, Arc. Usman Mohammed, who formally handed over the site and relevant project documents to the contractor for the commencement of construction works.

Arc. Usman Mohammed added that, when completed as planned, the Faculty of Agriculture at Gombe State University would rank among the leading faculties of agriculture in Nigeria.

Also speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Bldr. Ahmed Guli, expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Gombe State for providing the enabling environment and support that made the project possible.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of Gombe State University, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, commended the NEDC for its timely intervention and appreciated the Executive Governor of Gombe State for his foresight, dedication, and sustained support for the University. He assured that the University would provide all necessary cooperation to ensure the smooth execution and timely completion of the project.

The construction of the Faculty Library and Veterinary Clinic is expected to significantly enhance teaching, learning, research, and practical training in agriculture and veterinary sciences, while strengthening Gombe State University’s contribution to agricultural development in Gombe State and the nation at large.
