NLNG Launches Nationwide Awareness Campaign for $100,000 Science and Innovation Prize at University of Abuja

 A high-profile roadshow was conducted today at the University of Abuja to create awareness for the prestigious $100,000 Nigeria LNG (NLNG) Prize for Science and Innovation. The event targeted lecturers and students, stimulating interest in the upcoming 2026 application cycle.

The 2026 edition of the national science prize will specifically invite applications focusing on advancements in Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Digital Technology.

The NLNG delegation leading the campaign included General Manager Dr. Sophia Horsfall and the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Prize, Professor Barth Nnaji. The team identified the University of Abuja as an optimal starting point for the campaign due to its central strategic location and active research community.

Both Dr. Horsfall and Professor Nnaji stressed the critical need for researchers to pursue cutting-edge solutions that directly address national challenges and contribute to Nigeria's development goals.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mathew Adamu (represented by the SSA on Administrative Matters, Professor Mohammed Abdullahi Katcha), officially declared the roadshow open. He remarked that the initiative would likely "stimulate healthy competition among researchers and promote innovation across key technological sectors."

Key members of the NLNG corporate communications team were also in attendance, including Manager Anne-Marie Palmer-Ikuku and Head of Media Elkanah Chawai.
