Nnamdi Azikiwe University Approves Amnesty Window For Overstayed Students
The Senate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has approved an amnesty window for overstayed students across all programmes, including Regular, CEP, and Sandwich, following its 238th meeting held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Zephaniah Mmadubuko Auditorium.

According to a statement issued by the Registrar, Dr. Chinenye G. Okeke, the Senate considered and approved the following resolutions:

i. Overstayed students will be allowed to register their outstanding courses, up to a maximum of 72 credit hours spread across four semesters, with not more than 24 credit hours per semester.
ii. No overstayed student shall score more than a grade “C” in any examination during the amnesty period.
iii. Outstanding fees owed by overstayed students shall be resolved administratively.
iv. Overstayed students will receive special consideration through a refresher course to prepare them adequately for examinations.
v. The approved amnesty period will run from the 2025/2026 to 2026/2027 academic sessions.
Dr. Okeke noted that the Senate’s decision aims to give affected students an opportunity to regularize their academic standing and complete their degree programmes successfully.
