North West University Declares Lecture-Free Day in Honor of Fallen Athletes

North West University, Kano, has declared Monday, June 2, 2025, as a lecture-free day in honor of the 22 athletes who tragically lost their lives in a fatal motor accident while returning from the National Sports Festival.

The university's management, led by Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, extended its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and the wider sports community.

The university prayed for the departed souls to be granted Aljannah Firdausi and for their families to be comforted with strength and patience during this difficult time. This gesture reflects the university's commitment to honoring the memories of the fallen athletes and supporting their loved ones.
