The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), the Technical Working Group Projects Office, and other supporting institutions have commenced preparations for the establishment of a national Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics Centre.
Inaugurated as the Project Implementation Committee (PIC), the group is tasked with driving the creation of the flagship centre. According to Soji Ezekiel Fagbemi, DBI’s Head of Public Affairs, the inauguration ceremony took place at the institute’s headquarters in Abuja and was led by the DBI President/CEO, Daser David.

The committee has been directed to develop an executive summary, operational roadmap, and action plan within four weeks. It will also coordinate the upcoming groundbreaking event and lead fundraising engagements, Fagbemi stated.
During the event, Mr. David highlighted the importance of equipping youth with digital skills, warning that: “We will all be sitting on a time bomb if we fail to train our youths.”
The initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening Nigeria’s capacity in AI, robotics, and digital innovation.
