NOUN Inaugurates 22nd Custodial Study Centre in Bayelsa to Expand Prison Education Programme

The National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, has further expanded its correctional education programme with the inauguration of a new Special Custodial Study Centre at the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Okaka, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.  

The facility, inaugurated on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, marks NOUN’s 22nd study centre located within correctional facilities across the country.

The expansion is part of the University’s commitment to providing access to quality, flexible, and inclusive education for persons in custodial centres, in line with its mandate as Nigeria’s foremost open and distance learning institution.
