NSHA Committee Commends Sa’adatu Liman’s Leadership as NSUK Records Strong Budget Performance

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA) Committee on Education has commended the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, for providing purposeful leadership that has contributed to the University’s impressive second-quarter budget performance for 2026.

The commendation was made on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, during the University’s 2026 Second Quarter Budget Performance Appraisal Meeting held at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.

Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Hon. Abel Bala Yakubu, praised the University’s performance, describing it as impressive and a demonstration of effective resource management under the leadership of Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman.

According to him, the achievement was particularly noteworthy given the financial challenges confronting the University, adding that the performance demonstrated that the current management was making commendable progress despite the difficult financial environment.

The Committee also expressed concern over the ongoing industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), noting its adverse effect on academic activities and students.

Hon. Yakubu assured the University Management that the Committee would take up the matter with the State Government and explore ways of facilitating an early resolution of the dispute to pave the way for the resumption of academic activities.

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, presented an overview of the University’s second-quarter budget performance. While acknowledging the positive performance recorded, she highlighted the enormous financial pressure caused by the rising cost of energy.

Professor Liman explained that increasing energy charges had significantly impacted the University’s annual budgetary allocation, thereby placing additional financial strain on the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor also appealed to the House Committee to support the speedy passage of the NSUK Pension Bill currently before the House, stressing its importance to the welfare and future security of University staff.

In response, the Chairman of the Committee assured the Vice-Chancellor that the request had been noted and would receive the necessary legislative attention.

The engagement provided another opportunity for the Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman-led administration to demonstrate its commitment to prudent financial management, staff welfare and the sustainable development of Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
