NUC Team Assures ACU Resource Assessment Is Not for Witch-hunting

The National Universities Commission (NUC) Resource Assessment team that visited Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, has stated that its mission is not to witch-hunt the university but to provide professional advice aimed at improving the various programmes being assessed.

The panel of resource persons visited the university campus on Thursday, August 20, 2026, to assess the following programmes:

• M.Ed and PhD in Computer Science Education

• M.A and PhD in Performing Arts

• M.A and PhD in Music

• PhD in Law

• Doctor of Business Administration (DBA)

• PhD in Library and Information Science

• Masters in Communication Studies

Speaking on behalf of the team during their reception at the university, Prof. Felicia Agbo thanked the university management for its cooperation and hospitality.

She explained that the purpose of the visit was to examine the resources available for the programmes under assessment and provide professional advice on areas that could be improved.

She said the team was not at the university to witch-hunt but to contribute to the improvement of the programmes through its advice.

Prof. Agbo also commended the university for its conducive and serene environment and appealed to various Heads of Departments and staff to cooperate with the assessment teams as they carried out their duties.

Addressing the resource verification teams upon their arrival, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebunoluwa Oduwole, expressed appreciation to the NUC for its continued contribution to the development of universities in Nigeria.

She noted that the development of the university system could be slower without the Commission’s regulatory and quality-assurance roles.

Prof. Oduwole described ACU as an institution committed to raising “Godly Intellectuals” and encouraged the assessment teams to enjoy the university’s serene and conducive environment.

Following the assessment conducted by the various panels, the teams commended ACU for its neat and conducive environment.

The assessors also praised the university’s staffing and academic activities, describing them as adequate, while offering advice and making further recommendations for improvement.

Appreciating the various teams for a thorough job, the Vice-Chancellor thanked the NUC assessors for adding value to the university through their assessments, observations and recommendations.

She assured the assessors that the university places a high priority on maintaining good academic standards, as well as the welfare and comfort of its staff.

Prof. Oduwole further emphasised ACU’s commitment to providing quality education, maintaining adequate facilities and resources, and continuously improving its academic programmes in line with regulatory requirements.

The visit provided an opportunity for the university to demonstrate its commitment to academic excellence while benefiting from the professional observations and recommendations of the NUC resource verification teams.
