NUC Visits McPherson University for Accreditation of Biotechnology Programme
A delegation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) has visited McPherson University for the accreditation of its Biotechnology programme, as part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to uphold academic quality and strengthen standards in Nigerian universities.
A delegation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) has visited McPherson University for the accreditation of its Biotechnology programme, as part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to uphold academic quality and strengthen standards in Nigerian universities.

The accreditation panel, led by Professor A. A. Aliero, Director of the Centre for Biotechnology and Plant Tissue Culture, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, included Mr. Anthony Adejumo, Deputy Director, IT (NUC), and Professor M. D. Sila of the University of Jos. The team jointly conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the programme.
Upon arrival, the NUC delegation was warmly received by the University Management, headed by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francis Igbasan, who reaffirmed McPherson University’s dedication to delivering globally competitive academic programmes backed by quality infrastructure and competent personnel.

During the exercise, the team inspected the Biotechnology laboratories, classrooms, and departmental facilities, assessing their suitability for effective teaching and research. They also evaluated staffing strength, administrative efficiency, and the overall learning environment within the programme.
At the exit meeting, Professor Aliero commended McPherson University for its hospitality and described the institution’s serene and conducive environment as ideal for learning, innovation, and scholarly productivity.
The accreditation panel also praised the University’s well-equipped physical and electronic library and acknowledged the high calibre of academic and technical staff supporting the programme.

Findings from the exercise will inform the Commission’s final accreditation decision and contribute to the continuous enhancement of McPherson University’s Biotechnology programme.
