THE Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has congratulated Dr. Sunday Zaccheaus Saanu on his appointment as Director of Public Communication and Corporate Affairs at the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE).

In a letter made available to journalists in Ibadan, the Chapel described the appointment as well-deserved, citing Saanu’s track record of professionalism, resilience and dedication to institutional communication.

The Correspondents’ Chapel represents journalists whose media houses are domiciled outside Oyo State. Saanu previously served as Chairman of the Chapel.

The congratulatory message, signed by the Chairman of the Chapel, Comrade Yinka Adeniran, and the Secretary, Comrade Rotimi Agboluaje, praised Saanu as “a paragon of excellence, assiduity, and resilience,” whose antecedent as a former Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel was examplary.

Adeniran and Agboluaje pointed out that Dr. Saanu’s career trajectory within the university system has prepared him for the strategic responsibility.

“It is with immense joy and pride that all members of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, extend our warmest congratulations to you on your appointment as Director of Public Communication and Corporate Affairs at the Federal University Oye Ekiti,” the letter read in part.

The Chapel noted that Saanu’s years of dedicated service, including his role as the Correspondents’ Chapel Chairman, as well as media assistant to vice-chancellors at the University of Ibadan and Ajayi Crowther University, have equipped him with the experience and institutional knowledge required to reposition FUOYE’s communication architecture.

According to the NUJ body, the confidence reposed in him by the university’s Governing Council reflects his competence, integrity and proven capacity to deliver on high-level communication mandates.

“We have no doubt that under your leadership, the Directorate will attain greater heights, enhance the university’s visibility, and further solidify its reputation as a centre of academic excellence,” the letter stated.

Saanu’s appointment was approved by the FUOYE Governing Council at its meeting held on January 30, 2026. The letter of appointment, dated February 17, 2026, was signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr. Mufutau Ibrahim.

A consummate public relations expert and media specialist, Saanu holds a PhD in Cultural and Media Studies and is a staff member of the University of Ibadan. Over the years, he has built a reputation for strategic communication, media management and institutional branding within the Nigerian university system.

The NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel expressed confidence that Saanu would “raise the bar” in his new role, urging him to deploy his expertise toward strengthening transparency, stakeholder engagement and institutional growth.

“As you begin this new chapter, may it be marked by remarkable achievements, impactful innovations, and continued professional fulfillment,” the letter added.
