The Rector of the Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa (OGITECH), Dr. Abiodun Babatunde Oluseye, has been recognised as one of Nigeria’s outstanding leaders in education.
Dr. Oluseye was conferred with the ACE Excellence Award as an Outstanding Administrator and Iconic Educationist on Friday, 22nd May, 2026. The prestigious ceremony, which held at the Watercress Hotel and Event Center in Ikeja, Lagos, celebrated global captains of industry, philanthropists, and trailblazers who have made significant contributions to humanity.
According to the organisers, the award recognises Dr. Oluseye’s remarkable dedication, leadership, and selfless service to the advancement of Nigeria's education system.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Oluseye ably represented by his Personal Assistant, Mr Hosu Mewhenu Peter, expressed gratitude for the honour and reaffirmed his continued commitment to reshaping the landscape of polytechnic education in Nigeria. He emphasised that redefining technical education is crucial to driving the nation's technological development.
"Our goal is to position OGITECH as a leading institution in actualising this long-overdue transformation," Dr. Oluseye stated, adding that Nigeria must emulate developed nations where technical education is taken seriously because it drives both national and global growth. He connected his motivation for establishing the Institute's Robotics and Innovation Technology, and other similar centres within the Polytechnic to this need.
Speaking at the event, the Publisher and CEO of ACE Magazine, Otunba Olumide Adeleke, noted that the ACE Awards serve as both a motivation and an encouragement for leaders to do more. He emphasised the integrity of the selection process, clarifying that the honours are strictly merit-based.
"This award is not for sale," Otunba Adeleke stated. "It is a deliberate platform to celebrate genuine Nigerian heroes who are making a difference in their respective fields."
Dr. Oluseye shared the spotlight with several other prominent Nigerians who were also honoured at the event. The distinguished list of co-awardees included: Princess Bolanle Ogundiran, CSP Murphy Akanbi Salami, Commander of SWAT, Ogun State Command, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, prominent industrialist and former commissioner in Ogun State, Mr. Yemi Shonde, Founder and CEO of Yes FM, Ibadan, Prof. Fosudo, a veteran actor and university teacher, etc.
The event concluded with networking sessions and goodwill messages from various stakeholders, all commending the awardees for their impactful service to the nation.
